I'm not sure the effect is the same though. Focusing fire on a TIE seems like it will pretty reliably kill the TIE in a single turn and remove that TIE's attack dice from the pool for next turn. Focusing fire on an X-Wing often will not remove it in a single turn and its dice remain usable on the next turn.
Interesting point... I'll watch for this when I next play.
