Beating a dead horse here... but I guess it comes down to weather you think a roleplaying game (think DnD) is collectible, based on the fact that new stuff is coming out all the time. I would argue that it is not. On the other hand if you are competative about it (something few people claim about DnD) you might feel it is necessary to keep up with expansions...
To me collectible goes hand in hand with random 'easter egg - you don'y know what you are getting' distribution. but I can see if someone would argue that this is not the definition of collectible.
