Hi,
1) Can anyone tell me about the game fest Arkham Nights 2012 at the FFG Events Center in Roseville, MN?
My game group just started playing Arkham Horror. We like it. We want to learn more and go to the festival.
2) My question is: There are young ladies in our group who have never been to a gaming or fantasy convention. They're sensible and over 18.
3) Would this be the right setting and crowd for a newbie?
4) Is there a decent hotel near the game center?
We hope this will be the right horror game exposure for our new group.

1) It's a pretty cool gathering of geeks who like to play FFG's Lovecraft games, as one might expect. Prior knowledge of Lovecraft not required. Lots of demos for each game in that theme that they produce. Even the Call of Cthulhu LCG tourney is very noob friendly. Costume contests, opportunities to play in unreleased games, designer seminars, neat swag bags with promotional items, etc.
2) It's not over the top nerdy and is pretty relaxed/casual. FFG event center is pretty unisex friendly. I would say there is nearly as many females that show up to this event as do males. My GF loves the event for the most part. Playing Arkham Horror with Richard Launius was a huge deal for her and really made a great event awesome in her eyes.
3) I think so. It is an advertising event after all, when it is all said and done. They want to make it as noob friendly as possible to spread positive word of mouth./ I think they suceed for the most part.
4) There are 2 great hotels within 1 block of the event center. The Radisson and the Days Inn. Both have special rates for the event that you get through FFG. I recommend emailing Jaffer Batica for more info (I think he is handling the logistics of the event still, but I could be wrong).
Over all I have had very positive feelings about the event after attending each since 2010. 2010 was the best yet as the attendance was through the roof and we met a lot of out of town gamers that year. Looking forward to meeting new Lovecraft fans this year as well. Hopefully, the Stars will be Right. The faithful will be the lucky first to be consumed.
Awesome! Thanks for the great info, especially on hotels and special rates. Any break on the hotel bill will help out alot. We're going. Maybe we'll see you there. Look for the Noob Bregade.
