We play it like this:
Shooting is allowed when a survivor and a zombie is in the same area
Shoot = success = apply damage to undead
or
Shoot = miss = applied damage to survivor

Each hit damage counts, ex:
Sawed off Shotgun roll two dice and i get a 1 and a 5, both Zombie and survivor gets damages. If I would have got a 5 and a 6 Zombie gets Damage (even two zombies are in same location, one hit each)
if I roll a 1 and 2 the survivor get both damage and therefore dies...good advice is to use the pistol only...because anything else is pretty fatal, but sometime we had no choice but to use the Sub Mg...And of course all hell breaks lose.

Guys am really sorry to say, the game mechanics are broken. My friend and I have quite a lot of experience with board games and have yet to even win one game out of ten...where getting very frustrated with the broken rules... If indeed the game is better at six player Guillotine Games can easily issue an official guideline for 4 players games (iex: 1 spawn point per two players) otherwise stop bragging that the game works perfectly because is just not true. A fact is fact!
That being said we made a few changes and notice right away the game play amazingly great!
