Thanks for the responses ;) I'm used to playing M:TG on the XBox which isn't quite the same beast as playing it via card game so am not a total newbie to these things.

Some more about the game:

Part of my problem stemmed from the fact that I needed to resource a number of high player cards at the start and then through most of the game I kept drawing crappy characters - the type you'd normally throw in as suicide bombers - and support cards that didn't really work for the situation. I did get some really nice ones out that let me do things with my deck and discard pile though.

As to the terror struggle - I'm more than happy to make someone insane....but when you've only got two basics out, one with willpower and an attached gun (book icon only on card) and the other card has to go insane you know you're not going to win marks on the tracks so there's no point.

Dave took an early lead with an uncontested story win. He then won a second after a while. I won my first card which I then activated making him put one of his two story cards back in the pack. He then won his second card and then the third. So that extended the time somewhat, though by that point winning a story only took 10 minutes.

The problem with CoC for beginners is there's too much choice. As a beginner I want to know which factions, and more importantly which combination of factions, work best together. But to do that properly you need a good dozen games under your belt with different faction choices each time. No doubt I'll get there, but games are sporadic as willing partners are rare.
