An interesting exercise, but one thing I think needs to be specified is the order the ships move.

For instance, if the TIE Fighter moves before the X-Wing (I assumed it would), then trying to force the X-Wing to 'collide' with you is a big factor in maneuver selection. If you know the X-Wing moves first, then 'collision' avoidance would be really important.

Additionally, for some "popular" decisions it appears that the TIE would actually overfly in an attempt to get a closer range shot and end up letting the X-Wing escape it's firing arc if the X happens to pull a hard turn (I'm of the mindset that a sure-thing attack is better than risking a bonus die close and losing the target, but this is just a judgment call). Now, if the TIE Barrel Rolls it can get the X back in it's arc even if the X banked, but this is only viable if the TIE moves after the X and knows where the X went (right vs left). If the TIE does move first, though, it looks like some choices people made will let the X escape the arc on hard turns.

Choosing your man maneuvers happens at the same time for both sides.
Executing them then happens in order, with the least skilled pilot starting.
I can't really see how this is applicable, as you don't get to see your opponent move and then choosing your maneuver.
Collisions doesn't happen, as all pilots are believed to have the skill to maneuver around their opponent.

Take example 6. If the Tie moves first and picks a K-turn 3....he's going to overlap with the X-wing. This means he won't finish the K-turn and lose his action. However, if the Xwing moves first, the K-3 is probably a decent move as you'd most likely be behind the X-wing at a close range for a good shot.

Pilot skill matters greatly in several of these scenarios.

Thats why solo play with some pre-defined AI is so difficult. It's not simply 1 ship vs 1 ship. You have to coordinate your fleet vs their entire fleet. You are not reacting to 1 ship making 1 manuever. And you have to plan around pilot skill. And you have to make wise ability choices. Trying to create a simple AI to play this game against would most likely create very easily exploitable AI loopholes where you could plan to leave ships in blocking positions or lure ships into traps.
