They're designing two years out for the game currently (per interview with Matt and Caleb on CotR episode 100), so there is at least that much. Also it's a pet project of Christian Petersen (the CEO) so I'm REALLY not worried about it.

Plus there is really no reason they can't have more than 6 LCG's (Anton Torres said in an FFG GenCon 2016 retrospective that LCG products sell great, so there's that, too).

You should try stand-up.

In Eldritch Horror, you're suppose to read up to a test or decision and then stop until it's resolved.

That's not at all the rule in Eldritch Horror. I believe that's an optional rule in the RRG, but it's not the default rule.

Under hidden information, it's "recommended" someone else reads the card so as not to reveal the results of passing or failing.

Yeah, but that's if you're playing with the extra hidden information variant.

Wow, I've played through the first quest almost 10 times now and haven't seen those tiles come up yet. Buggy or not, I do like how varied the tile layouts can be :)

I would agree that the miniature and base situation with this game stinks.

It's not a dealbreaker by any means, but given the incredible work on Forbidden Stars, Imperial Assault, Descent, and Rebellion...this is just oddly uncharacteristic.

I can't help but wonder if it would have really been cheaper to use standees instead of the minis. I'm guessing a big reason to keep the minis was to keep the components consistent with 1e. As crazy as it sounds, I think that standees with clear bases would look nicer with the gorgeous mansion tiles. I'm going to be tempted to swap in my Eldritch Horror standees for the investigators. Real tempted. Heck I might shoot FF an email to see if they'd be willing to sell bundles of standees (not that they would).

Might have been cheaper, but it's also clear from the fact that half of the monster groups "just happen" to be the remaining monsters from Arkham/Eldritch that FFG never published minis for that they're hoping the minis drive sales of this to some extent at least.

Except this is scenario 4, not scenario 1...? I mean, it's kind of a given that tiles are going to change between scenarios. Or am I missing something here?

You don't have godly minions (There is Hercules, so a single demigod). But the actions are all favors from the gods, such as Zeus, Hermes, Athena, Aphrodite, etc. probably too close.

Further, androids and robots are quite similar.

Not on your list is elves/archers. I've played a custom Silvan Elves faction on board game geek and know that there are other non-Munchkin eleven faction ideas.

I also didn't notice mobsters on your list. Here again, there are already one or two good custom factions already posted online.

Regardless of the reasons, the release of this expensive game, which having had it crash on my second game and reading all the other customers experiences and reading the current warning from FFG about playing even the longest scenarios in one sitting due to continuing save problems, makes me afraid to try any but the first scenarios thereby rendering 3/4 of the scenarios unplayable, has caused me to change from an immediate buy customer to a wait and see and maybe buy customer for ALL future FFG app games.

Given the pricing policy under Asmodee's umbrella, FFG ought to have been more careful before releasing this game. They clearly rushed the app out the door. Then again, that's sort of become the characteristic of the software industry--rush, rush, rush, use your customers as beta testers.

Rushed out of the door, sure. There was a deadline that had to be met. Maybe that deadline was too tight, maybe the game needed another 3 months of dev. But time is money and that might well make it a $105 game. There is always a trade off, and it's rare any complex game comes with zero errata. It's just more frustrating when it's an app issue as you can't just house rule around it.

I actually started playing this when my son was 8 (he's 9 now). The rules are fairly easy, but sometimes needs a little help with strategy. We typically play campaign mode, and only did skirmish mode once. He knows plays one hero when I get together with my friends and holds his own on what his character does.
As far as content goes, it's clean like what was mentioned above.

When I play with new or less experienced players I always try out new strategies. Or play unique "teaching" strategies. Like building something around the Volur Witch, Mystic Troll, or Odin's Chosen. Fenrir also seems to have little love, but there is still a killer strategy with him, so for second or third time players I usually pull him out to show that Rangnarök is a very useful tool.

Add a good bit to the expected playtime. The estimates in the quest book are way on the low side and playing it the first time will probably take even longer.
